If you haven’t used protection diodes on your motor, it’s also possible that you’ve toasted the board. I have a baffling, problem here. I grounded the 2 ground pins at the bottom and connected power from the usb to vcc(i also tried AA batteries). Just connect Vcc to your microprocessor’s power supply. “Heating up a lot” is what the driver is supposed to do when running a motor. This technically has four of them, but looking at the truth table I don’t think you have enough independent control of them to do what you need (hint: it’s missing the Vcc voltage seems to be about 1 volt less that whatever voltage is input to the PWM input voltage.
